International Seasons

Organisation: British Council

Role: Director, Arts –  strategic governance and leadership in partnership with the British Council's seasons and festivals team

The British Council's international seasons help to create a modern, vibrant and creative image of the UK amongst millions of people in fast growing economies, encouraging more trade, investment and tourism.

In 2015, the UK-Mexico Year of Cultural Exchange was one of the largest cultural engagements with another country the British Council has delivered, with 393 events attended by 1.5million visitors. Elsewhere, the 2015 UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange resulted in more than 100 new relationships and over £20 million worth of cultural agreements were signed.

This success aims to be repeated through four major engagements next year, in India, Indonesia, Korea and the UAE, each with a legacy lasting far beyond 2017 .
